Harewood House, Harewood,Leeds LS17 9LG

  • Competitor Information
This is the first time that NA have used this venue, and we are confident that it will provide an excellent
venue in the landscaped South Park below Harewood House itself.
Access to and egress from the venue however is complex and involves traffic management and
extensive signage arrangements to ensure that everyone gets in and out safely. The success of the
2018 NA championships, at this venue, will indicate whether this venue will be suitable for the 2019
    ECCA National Championships.

Revisions to Car Parking & Event Area Layout Friday 26th January 20.26
Following the recent heavy rainfall, we have revised the event parking arrangements & layout to utilise the driest possible areas.
The access points into the site remain as before.

  • Coach & minibus parking arrangements remain as previously stated
  • All Officials and tent permit drop off holders should now use the Arch Gatehouse entrance (marked ‘2’ on map) and proceed along the main drive, payment points will be situated on the main drive, to the drop odff point for tents before proceeding to the main car park just beyond the house then walk back past the house after parking past the drop off point and down the track to the event area. We appreciate that this is further to walk but the plans have been revised to ensure the safety of spectators and athletes. Please allow more time to cover the increased distance.
  • Competitor & Spectator Parking
Please follow the yellow event signage before which will bring you into a suitable car park. Cars will be directed to the grass area at the top of the field.
  • Please follow the parking stewards directions and drive carefully to avoid wheelspinand getting stuck. Exits from the parking area out onto the main road are via designated points where either hard standing exists or matting has been installed.
  • Please follow pedestrian signage to exit/enter the car park.

Although much of the land is wet, much of the course remains reasonable dry and the actual course will remain as advertised.

Thank you for your assistance in ensuring that parking and access directions are adhered to.

The event will use two entrances to the site. These are shown on the separate Event Access plan.
All coach, minibus and tent drop off permit holders should use the Arch entrance to access the
site (Shown as Access point 2 on the plan). All the above must clearly display permits, which will be
issued by the Northern Athletics Office, in response to email applications. There is a charge, payable to
Northern Athletics, for coach (£30) and mini bus (£15) parking permits. Details of the Coach and
Minibus parking and drop off arrangements will be issued with the permits. Coaches or mini buses who
turn up without a permit will be subject to an increased charge on the day at the drop off point (£50 &
£25)
There is a car parking fee of £5 per car, which will be collected at pay points in the two parking areas.
Please have the correct money ready to pay to minimise any delay in getting parked.
Please follow the parking steward’s instructions directing drivers where to park.
Clubs bringing a large heavy club tent, will pay the £5 parking fee on entry but should apply to the
Northern Athletics for a tent drop off permit. Displaying this permit clearly in the vehicle should enable
the parking stewards to route your vehicle as close as possible to the event area and club tent location,
in both car parks.
Coach, Minibus and tent drop off permits must be applied for by 12:00 midday
on Weds the 24th Jan
All the car parking is on grass, so please take care & drive carefully to avoid getting stuck when
entering or leaving the parking areas. Please also note that, depending upon the ground
condition and the weather next week, the parking areas as shown on the plan may change to
use the driest areas available. The access points will remain the same but the areas and routes
within the park may be different, These will be clearly signed & an updated version of the plan,
will be uploaded to the NA website after a site meeting on Weds the 24th January, if that is
deemed necessary.

Travel to Harewood House for competitor and spectator cars.
All vehicle drivers are urged to follow the directions set by the Traffic management plan:
Please do not use satnav systems for your final miles to the park but follow the event signage.
• Vehicles travelling north from Leeds on the A61 will enter Harewood, turning left at the traffic
lights, entering through the Arch Gatehouse.
• Vehicles travelling west on the A659 from the A1M and Collingham will enter Harewood via the
main Arch Gatehouse; straight ahead at the traffic lights.
• Vehicles from the North and West must follow the event direction signs and approach the site
via Pool in Wharfedale and Arthington on the A659, entering the park at access point 1. This
entry point then has approximately 2 miles of winding estate roads (these will be marked with
arrows on day of the event) before reaching the Car parking area 1. Please drive carefully on
the estate road as some are public rights of way and are used by walkers. This access route
will be a one way entry route until 1 pm, when it will cease to be an entry route and become an
exit route. Any cars arriving after 1 pm should continue east on the A659 and turn right onto the
A61 and use the Arch Gatehouse entrance (Access Point 2).
