On a warm May morning in Manchester , the North of England field two strong teams to win both the men’s and women’s inter-area home fixture.

The men’s race was won by Kenenisa Bekele in 28.23 from Wilson Kipsang in 28.28. Nick McCormick from Morpeth was the first Northern athlete home in 6th in 29.21, followed by Yarod Hagos of Wallsend in 12th in 30.23.
